Case Study

An advocacy platform for C-suite Executives.

Project Overview

For this 12 week week project, my team was tasked with creating a mobile product for C-suite, hospital executives. We were asked to evaluate the current product's proposition value, "quick advocacy" on hospital related issues for busy executives, and uncover alternative product ideas to better improve the experience and fill user specific user needs. Starting with research, we surveyed and interviewed a total of nine different executives from health care systems and rural or urban hospitals to understand reactions to the current product, while hunting for opportunities and needs to fulfill and improve.

Our Analysis

Through research we learned that our busy executives felt an immense amount of pressure to both get involved and act as a voice for their hospital, staff, and patient base. While most actively were engaging regularly in relevant advocacy campaigns and actively seeking out congress members to champion their views, what was most wanted was a need to connect with other executives to collaborate on the unique issues that face this niche group of individuals. Considering these two factors together, we found that users wanted a tool that took the work out of advocacy and connected them with other executives specifically so they could share or troubleshoot the unique problems that face this group of individuals.

The Conclusion

Our final solution was an advocacy first platform that took a heightened emphasis on connecting executives with other executives . Through research and several rounds of user testing we defined and refined a product that served all of these needs. To tie it all together, we made sure that our product was especially customized for the specific user, designing and testing an onboarding process that would later serve up custom news, alerts, advocacy issues, and discussion threads specifically for the interests of a single busy executive. Our final product was a tailored advocacy tool, that supported personal connection and interests relevant to each C-suite user . While This product did not go to development with our in-house developers, the research and design results were very well recieved by our clients; a version of this product now exists in the app store.
